Nathan began his spiritual journey in 1998 at the age of 24 when he enrolled in clairvoyant training and healing classes taught by graduates of the Berkeley Psychic Institute. He also studied with Toltec Shaman and author Sergio Magana. He is a graduate of Sergio's Toltec Healing School, Dreaming School, and journeyed to Mexico to learn directly from Sergio. Nathan teaches an annual Healing Seven Generations and the Day of the Dead course every fall.

In 2021 Nathan found the teachings of Swami Sri Kaleshwar and his guru Shirdi Sai Baba. He studied with Alx Utterman -- a direct disciple of Swami Kaleshwar. Under Swami's direction she co-founded the Universal Church of Baba's Kitchen (UCBK) and Nathan is a graduate of UCBK's first year-long Healing Mastery Program. Nathan teaches the Five Elements Process, the Holy Womb Chakra Process, Sri Chakra Process and Yantra, Ganesh Yantra, Surya and Chandra Nadi Processes, Maha Kali and Nine Arrows, Personal Mantra and other Healing Techniques, and is certified to perform Sacred Fire Ceremonies. Nathan has also taken other advanced courses through UCBK and has traveled to India and visited the Shiva Sai Mandir Ashram of Swami Kaleshwar, north of Banalore, India many times.

Nathan has also worked tirelessly as an environmental, social, and political activist for over 20 years. He has worked for numerous non-profits advocating for better health care, civil rights, rights of migrants, and environmental justice. He believes deeply in the integration of spiritual practice and direct, strategic action to create a world that works for all life.
